Kitesurf · Essaouira

From the sand to your first ride upwind

Essaouira's bay is why we teach here: steady trade winds, flat water behind the reef and a beach you can stand up on whenever you need a pause. Every kitesurf course follows one clear progression, from ground school to your first metres of riding.

How it works

Step by step

  1. 01

    Ground school

Wind window, rigging, launching and landing — and the one reflex that matters: letting go of the bar or pulling the release the moment it gets too much.

  2. 02

    Kite control

Flying a small kite on the beach and in the shallows until steering is automatic, then a first body drag with the kite overhead and one hand on the bar.

  3. 03

    Water skills

Body dragging upwind, board recovery and self-rescue. This is the part that turns a good day into a safe one, so we never rush it.

  4. 04

    First rides

Water starts with a radio helmet and the instructor beside you, then your first metres of riding upwind on the bay's flat water.

Most riders need three to five sessions to ride upwind on their own. Book them together as a 6, 10 or 16-hour package — the rate per 2-hour class stays the same.
